SUMMARY:Sketching in the City of Light
DESCRIPTION:A wonderful 3 night sketchbook adventure in Paris. We’ll enjoy strolling through the streets without the crowds and exploring the city after dusk; perfect to learn the skills of night sketching and capturing the vibrant colours and atmosphere of one of the most beautiful cities in the world by day! \nThe tuition will cover the essentials of sketching on location\, which is ideal if you are a beginner or lacking confidence in your drawing. You will learn how to use ink and watercolour selectively\, quickly and with confidence. \nAccommodation:\nHotel Minerve is a 3-star hotel set in a Haussmannian-style building located in the 5th arrondissement – which is a great choice for travellers interested in history\, art and culture. Notre Dame Cathedral is a 10-minute walk away. \nSample itinerary: \n\nFriday 15 November: arrival and check-in. Over evening drinks we’ll discuss materials and plans for the weekend whilst doing some warm-up sketches\nSaturday 16 November: after breakfast we’ll head to the Ile de France returning via Place de la Concorde\nSunday 17 November: a chance to explore the Champs Elysées returning via the Trocadéro\nMonday 18 November: departure day. DESCRIPTION:Croquis Café workshops are relaxed 2 hour gatherings to explore new techniques and subjects in an indoor setting. A great way to spend time with friends and learn new skills. No previous art experience is necessary\, just a willingness to have a go! \nYou will need a basic sketch kit including sketchbook (smooth paper)\, pencil\, pen with waterproof ink and a basic watercolour set with brush. DESCRIPTION:Straddling the River Avon\, Bristol has a huge maritime significance. The harbourside\, shipyards and iconic suspension bridge are just a few reminders of its history and importance during the industrial revolution of the 19th century. A vibrant and cultural city\, there are sketch opportunities at every turn. \nDuring this 3 day workshop holiday we’ll base ourselves in Clifton near the Observatory. From here we can study the impressive architecture of the Merchant Mariners and explore the city centre and harbourside. Suitable for all levels\, in this fun 3 days you’ll overcome your fear of the blank page and explore different page layouts and alternating techniques for different subjects. We like to take you slightly off the beaten track too\, meeting local people and visiting our favourite cafes – getting a genuine taste of life as a local in this beautiful corner of France. \nYou’ll have a personalised and authentic experience not only in sketching and art. You’ll be discovering the best local foods and wines and learning about the history of the region. We also make sure you have plenty of opportunities to explore\, shop\, swim and relax in your own time. \nWe welcome anyone of any age\, no previous drawing skills or painting experience needed – just a desire to learn\, have fun and be creative! \nThis 6-night sketchbook adventure will take you through the essentials of travel sketching whilst having a lot of fun! We’ll be sketching the scenery in and around the historic hill-top village of Quarante as well as the Canal du Midi. \nWhy is this a travel sketching adventure? Because we’ll be taking the bus so you won’t even need a car! This will be great fun and sketching on-the-go\, making memories and capturing the essence of those moments in your sketchbook. \nWe’ll focus on observing shapes\, page planning and working fast and loose with watercolour\, how to sketch people and architecture\, perspective\, flowers and nature. \nOur sketching itinerary starts the evening of 6 September.
